The history of joint-stock company "Plasta" dates
back to 1961 - the factory, which was founded this year, started
manufacturing household articles of moulded plastic and various elements
of pressed plastic.
The factory, which in the beginning of its existence had merely a small
moulding-pressing workshop, has expanded within several years: during 1961
- 1965 the equipment for producing HDPE pipes and LDPE films has been
installed. | Company "Plasta" was rapidly developing the selected
production directions: in the sixties the company was one of the largest plastic
processing companies in the territory of the Soviet Union at that
time.
In 1966 - 1970 the moulding-blowing method of manufacturing polyethylene packages was
introduced in the factory.
In the beginning of seventies company "Plasta" gathered together especially
highly skilled technical staff. At that period the factory started launching
polyethylene recycling technologies that made the utilisation of existing
resources of raw materials more efficient.
When Lithuania regained independence, company "Plasta"
successfully manoeuvred between political changes and business. During 1991-1993
the company started entering into business relations with enterprises in the
western Europe without losing its market in the
ex-USSR Republics.
In 1993 "Plasta" was registered as a joint-stock company and in the same year
it became a 100% private capital company. In the same year the factory was
equipped with modern and efficient Italian production-line for recycling
polyethylene (PE). Up to 2003 three more efficient production-lines for
recycling polyethylene have been installed.
In 1995-1996, due to expansion of the market of western Europe, the factory
was equipped with modern bags productions-line. The production-lines for
recycling polyethylene, successfully introduced in the earlier stage, and the
new equipment for producing garbage bags enabled company "Plasta" to win the
recognition in the markets of western Europe.
In 1997-1998 "Plasta" launched production of new generation polypropylene
(PP) indoor drainage systems.
In 1999 the Quality Management System Standard ISO 9001 was implemented in
"Plasta". In 2003 company obtained a certificate confirming that the existing
Quality System conforms to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 Standard.
During 2002-2003 the company, expanding its market in the western Europe,
started installing especially modern equipment for producing garbage bags.
